Meet Laura Linscheid, MD

Orthopedic Surgeon & Sports Medicine Specialist

Laura Linscheid, MD, is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon at CLS Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Associates, where she provides comprehensive care for musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative joint conditions.

With fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine, Dr. Linscheid treats a wide range of conditions — from acute sports injuries and fractures to advanced arthritis requiring joint replacement. Her goal is simple: help patients return to the activities that matter most to them.

As a former collegiate soccer player, she understands the impact mobility can have on daily life and the importance of helping patients regain it.

From Collegiate Athlete to Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Linscheid’s path to orthopedic surgery began on the soccer field. After witnessing teammates sustain injuries — and experiencing injuries herself — she realized she wanted to be the physician helping athletes recover and return to play.

Her strong interest in science and biology naturally led her toward medicine. Over time, her experiences as both an athlete and a patient solidified her desire to specialize in musculoskeletal care.

“What drew me to orthopedics,” she explains, “was the ability to restore function. The human body is incredibly resilient. Being able to help someone get back to their highest level of activity is incredibly rewarding.”

Education & Advanced Training

Dr. Linscheid completed:

  • Medical School at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)
  • Orthopedic Surgery Residency at UTMB
  • Fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute

During her training, she developed advanced expertise in cartilage repair, sports injury management, and joint preservation techniques. She has authored peer-reviewed publications and contributed to orthopedic research, including work focused on cartilage restoration.

She joined CLS Health in November 2025 after completing fellowship training.

Clinical Focus & Special Interests

Dr. Linscheid provides both operative and non-operative orthopedic care, with special interest in:

Her broad surgical scope allows her to treat both high-level athletes and patients managing degenerative joint conditions.

A Patient-Centered, Evidence-Based Approach

Dr. Linscheid practices evidence-based orthopedic care, meaning clinical research, outcomes data, and patient goals to guide treatment decisions.

She emphasizes:

  • Shared decision-making
  • Clear education about risks and benefits
  • Individualized recovery planning
  • Long-term joint preservation

“I try to understand each patient’s activity level, lifestyle, and goals,” she explains. “Some patients want to return to competitive sports. Others want to walk comfortably without pain. Treatment has to align with what matters to them.”

A Common Misconception About Orthopedic Surgery

One misconception she frequently hears is that surgery alone solves the problem.

Rehabilitation plays a critical role.

“Post-operative physical therapy is not optional,” she explains. “You only get out of therapy what you put into it. Patients who commit to their recovery see the best outcomes.”

She also emphasizes that not every orthopedic condition requires surgery. Many patients improve with structured therapy, injections, or activity modification.

Prevention & Long-Term Joint Health

Dr. Linscheid encourages patients to:

  • Maintain a healthy body weight
  • Stay active
  • Continue strengthening exercises even after physical therapy ends
  • Prioritize compliance with rehabilitation plans

Prevention and consistency often reduce reinjury risk and delay the need for surgical intervention.

Why She Chose to Practice in Sugar Land & Clear Lake

Dr. Linscheid enjoys caring for a diverse patient population — from young athletes to older adults managing arthritis.

The Sugar Land and Clear Lake communities offer a broad range of patients and activity levels, which allows her to practice the full scope of orthopedic care.

She also values CLS Health’s integrated care model, which includes:

This multidisciplinary structure allows for faster diagnosis, coordinated treatment plans, and improved patient outcomes.

Dr. Linscheid notes that orthopedic injuries often follow seasonal patterns.

  • During winter months, she sees an increase in skiing and snowboarding-related knee injuries.
  • In the fall, high school football injuries became more common.
  • Sudden cold weather can also trigger arthritis flare-ups.

What New Patients Should Know

To make the most of your first appointment, Dr. Linscheid recommends bringing:

  • Any prior X-rays or MRI reports
  • A disc copy of imaging studies
  • A list of previous treatments

If imaging has not been completed, X-rays may be performed during your visit.
