When to See a Dermatologist

It’s time to visit a dermatologist if you notice persistent rashes, itching, or skin changes that don’t improve with over-the-counter treatments. Changing moles, new growths, or sores that fail to heal should also be evaluated promptly, as they may signal skin cancer. Our dermatologists can also help with uncontrolled acne, spreading skin infections, hair shedding, or pigment changes, which can also benefit from professional evaluation.

In general, if a skin issue is affecting your comfort, appearance, or confidence, seeking a specialist ensures you get the right diagnosis and treatment.

Conditions Treated

Our dermatologists treat the full spectrum of skin, hair, and nail conditions. Depending on your diagnosis, treatment may include topical creams, oral medications, or advanced options such as light therapy, laser procedures, or injections. Every care plan is personalized to your condition and skin type.

Common conditions we treat include acne, eczema, rosacea, warts, and various rashes. Eczema is a chronic inflammatory condition causing dry, itchy, and inflamed skin, while rosacea causes facial redness and flushing; both are managed with medication and lifestyle adjustments. Acne, common in all ages, leads to breakouts on the face and body, with treatment ranging from topical and oral medications to light therapy. Warts are viral growths that we treat with cryotherapy, electrosurgery, or medication, depending on their size and location.

We diagnose and treat rashes, like hives or allergic reactions, with tailored treatment plans including medication, light therapy, or immunotherapy to address the underlying cause.

Our dermatologists treat hair and scalp conditions, including alopecia, patchy hair loss, and folliculitis decalvans, which can cause thinning or scarring of the scalp. Ingrown hairs and pseudofolliculitis barbae (razor bumps) often lead to irritation and infection, while hidradenitis suppurativa causes painful bumps and inflammation in hair-bearing areas.

Treatment options vary based on the condition and may include topical or oral medications, steroid injections, or minor procedures to reduce inflammation and improve hair and scalp health.

For more serious concerns, such as skin cancer, our team provides thorough screenings and expert treatment. During routine skin exams, your dermatologist checks for unusual moles, precancerous lesions like actinic keratoses, or other abnormal growths.

If something suspicious is found, a biopsy may be performed, and treatment options may include cryotherapy, topical medications, electrodesiccation and curettage, laser surgery, or Mohs surgery to remove affected tissue while preserving healthy skin.
