Prevention is at the heart of what we do. Our internists offer annual physical exams, well-woman visits, vaccinations, and preventive screenings for heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. These visits help detect potential health issues early and give you the tools to maintain long-term wellness through proactive, evidence-based care.  

Our internists diagnose and treat a wide range of acute illnesses such as asthma attacks, respiratory infections, pneumonia, and the flu. We also manage urgent conditions like urinary tract infections, strep throat, fever, and cough, offering same-day evaluations when needed. In collaboration with emergency and specialty teams, we provide initial assessment and ongoing management for heart attacks, broken bones, burns, and hormone imbalances to ensure safe, coordinated care. 

CLS Health’s internal medicine team specializes in long-term management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, COPD, and kidney disorders. We also care for patients with arthritis, osteoporosis, and autoimmune diseases, helping reduce pain and improve daily function. Our physicians focus on prevention and early intervention for conditions like high cholesterol, obesity, depression, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease—supporting every aspect of your health through continuous, personalized care.

Internists are physicians who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions that affect adults. They are skilled in managing both common illnesses and complex chronic diseases that involve multiple organ systems. Many internists also serve as a patient’s primary care doctor, coordinating care, ordering screenings, managing medications, and helping adults stay healthy through each stage of life.

Internal medicine is a specialty focused solely on adult health. Internists train specifically in the diagnosis and management of adult medical conditions, particularly complex or chronic ones.

Primary care is a broader category of frontline medical care and includes internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, and sometimes OB/GYN—any specialty that serves as a first point of contact for patients.

Family medicine physicians differ from internists because they care for patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults, and their training spans pediatrics, obstetrics, and adult medicine. Internists, by contrast, specialize exclusively in adults.
