Physicians

Why CLS?

We believe independent physicians are the most engaged and the most passionate, and therefore they provide the best care to their patients. However, they also tend to burn out quickly and ultimately succumb to joining large, rigid systems under unfair terms.

Our solution is to create an alternative model that preserves physicians’ autonomy, authority, and passion for this noble profession. We know that working in healthcare is more than a career—it is a calling. When you pursue your purpose at CLS Health, whether as an independent physician or as a group, you are entering a team striving for great provider experience, financial empowerment, and growth opportunities.

Our History

In September 1998, Dr. Mohammad J. Baba, a Baylor College of Medicine graduate, started his Pulmonary/Critical Care practice in Nassau Bay, Texas. After seven years of working alone, it was time to form a group. Clear Lake Pulmonary was established. Dr. Mahmood Dweik completed his training at UTMB in 2005 and joined the new entity. By 2012, they grew the group to 18 physicians with multiple specialties and moved to a much larger office at 500 N. Kobayashi Rd. in Webster, Texas.

In 2014, we started building our “comprehensive care center” in Webster and changed our name to Clear Lake Specialties. By 2021, our multi-specialty group has grown to 92 providers occupying 75,000 square feet of office space in its principal facility and added multiple satellite offices. Building on our past success, we launched a new vision in 2022 to create comprehensive care centers across the entire Houston area by 2030 and changed our name to CLS Health.
